Emotionally Challenged

I woke up to the 7 am alarm this morning but switched it off and snoozed for another hour or so. At 5 past 8, I dragged myself out of the bed and get ready for another Monday-morning-need-to-get-to-work.  The only thought in my mind was that I had a lot to do at work today.

Got to the office, made a cup of coffee and concentrate hard on my to-do list. Annoyingly, a perekrutan agensi called me to asked if I'm interested on some jawatan kosong di XXX syarikat. Not quite sure if she's trying to dig more general market information or if she's sincerely trying to do business. Have been a while since I last got this sort of calls...you know it's been quiet during the credit crunch...Anyway, after layaning her for a bit, I get back to work before she called again...urgh...

Close to off work time, pengurus punya pengurus punya pengurus say ada something nak cakap dengan saya. Got a bit tensed kerana tak pernah macam tu. So, rupa-rupanya dia tanya saya if ada interest nak kerja dengan team lain. Saya pernah tukar team, tapi still dengan immediate pengurus saya, kali ni, ke team yang really lain. Selepas cakap-cakap session tu, pengurus saya tanya apa saya think. Sigh, tapi pengurus besar kata sampai macam saya tak ada pilihan, i.e. mesti tukar. Immediate pengurus on the other hand sangat baik kerana dia tak nak saya tukar so dia kata saya boleh say no.

*Ponder*...At this point, Devil Nico will say: tukarlah, boleh dapat more exposure dan belajar stuff lain lain. Tak payah kira apa orang lain berfikir. Angel Nico will say: Tapi...there is something yang tarik me back...perhaps the looks and the way someone cared...

So you might be thinking...why emotionally challenged? Because I just figured I am so crap at handling my emotions...think too much perhaps?

Nicocism No. 1

Nicocism No.1 : Nico thinks that making life-changing decisions is a nightmare. Hates making decisions especially when she doesn't know how and what. That said, she is very decisive when she knows exactly what she wants.

3rd anniversary

...Just thought I should make a note that yesterday, the 20th of February marked my three years with my current job...how time flies! I wonder, where will I be and what will I be doing on this day 3 years later!?!...

Snow in Feb 2009!

Woke up one early morning to see the roads covered with snow, and no sign of any living creatures, not even foot prints...

The snow gets heavier...

On the way back from work, I met all so lonely mr snowman who was beheaded and crushed to death the next morning.

And so they claim, there have never been so much snow in 18 years it seems!

Dorayaki!

Stumbled across the Chopsticks Diet book the other day, decided to buy it with the intention to return it after i have copied out some of the recipes. But eventually decided to keep it for all good reasons ... simple recipe, easy to follow and the recipe works!

My attempt to make Dorayaki (based on the book's Green tea hotcake recipe)...

Ingredients:
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp matcha
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp mirin
  • 50ml water
  • 1 tsp vege oil
Sift flour, sugar & matcha into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Add egg, water and mirin. Whisk mixture. Heat up oil in a pan and ladle in the mixture (size vary according to personal preference). Cook for arnd 2 to 3 mins until tiny holes are visible. Turn over to cook the other side for a further 2 to 3 mins.

For Dorayaki, I bought ready made adzuki bean paste and sandwich between two hotcakes.

It's nearly the end of 2008!

Got to work today to find out I've won a raffles prize, a Spa Gift Card. Was supposed to be given out on xmas eve. But given the fact that I left early to catch the flight to Berlin that day, I wasn't there when that happened. Didn't much expected it. So was a great surprise gift! Spa spa spa, here I come wuhu!

So back to blogging business today. What have I been up to?

Spent xmas in Berlin with mum and dad. Was very cold. It snowed a bit when we were outside Pergamon museum. And it was -1 degrees! Blimey! Stayed in Concorde in Kurfurstendamm. Very nice hotel. The package from expedia was brilliant! Literally hopped from one xmas market to the other, although dad wasn't that appreciative having to wait for two ladies shopping arnd. Malls were open but shops inside weren't, so didn't buy much stuff.  Covered almost most of the important stuff in 2 days, pretty good. Quite an easy city to move around, so much easier than Russia!!!

After Russia, took another 2 weeks off in Oct and went back KL and then went to the Xian, Henan and Shanghai trip. Quite like Shanghai, loads of skyscrapers! The only downside is the people's attitude (think shall not elaborate further... :)). It was work work and work back in UK and normal stuff.

Sales started quite early this year because of the credit crunch. Debenhams for e.g. was  doing 20% most items in store even before xmas. And after xmas sales was even better! 50% off half the Dior store. Am so happy to have bought a purse for half the price!
