What to write

I was determined to update my blog as frequently as I can. But these few days, staring at the monitor, I don't know what to write. I blame it on the 'uninterestingness' of my life now. For the past week, I have been working on my research project. It is 'darn' boring! Read, read and read. I cannot imagine how I can survive the rest of the months until September.

I wish I could do more productive activities than doing research. This is when I decided that I will definitely not do a Phd! Probably I am more to a 'result' person. I am not someone who can work on a particular problem for years and just to figure out that all the effort was a waste. I do admire those researchers though. Up for the challenge and willing to live with it.

All complaints delve down to one solution - continue working on my project and I can't wait till I hand in my thesis!

A Philosophical Text: The Art of Learning

All this while, learning was spoon fed. Throughout my 14 years of education,I have never felt this way. However, it is becoming evident that higher education requires one to master the art of learning to achieve.

In the world out there, nobody will sympathise if you don't know something. Nobody will spill out their knowledge to you unless you know how to dig it out from them.

What is the art of learning? Learning = the act of acquiring knowledge. How? By asking questions to fulfil your curiosity and make sense of things. This is also the most challenging part of the process - to come up with the 'right' questions and to the 'right' person.

It is rarely that you can find someone who offer you more than you asked. There are such people. But not always you find them. And you should consider yourself lucky to be able to.

Everyday you are learning something. Occasionally you find it useful, some other times you simply aren't aware of it.

Thought for the day: Learning is an easy and interactive process. Mastering it is another challenge.

And when 2 people cross over, the time it takes to cross over is the time of the slowest person. EG A & D cross over it takes 10 mins. Once they have crossed over, a person must travel back with the torch. Find the quickest time...

Puzzle 1

You are in a house. In the cellar there are 3 switches which you know are connected, each to one of 3 lights in the attic (which have just been fitted with brand new 100 Watt bulbs from Fred Meyer). Each switch has two labeled positions: "On" and "Off". You are allowed one trip to the Cellar, and one trip to the Attic, can switch the switches in any combination you like, and must be able to say which light is controlled by which switch.

Ok...it's the time of the year where I don't have to worry about exams anymore. My last academic examinations over! Interesting activities engaged in lately: Diner Dashing, Warcrafting, TVB Seriesing, Desperate Housewivesing and Neopetting. Good news is, cut down expenses in Shopping and Eating (determined to go on strict diet *kidding). But they will not last long :(...Project starting soon. Sigh...
